Seni Gumbat is situated on Rawalpindi Kohat road towards south east at the distance of approximately 25 kilometers from Kohat. This village (Seni Gumbat) consists on 30000 people is in a shape of bowl and surrounded with mountains, Nakband Ghar at the east Pitao at the north Billitang Ghroona at the west and famous mount Gurgalote (Baraghzoon) at the south of the village. centuries ago the residents of the Gumbat use to bring large amount of wood from this mountain and it used to be the main source of fuel for the villagers, this mountain has also been used as a meadow by Afghan Khiljies for grazing their sheep herds in the winter seasons. The mountain is full of natural resources gypsum stone is supplied widely to the sounding cement factories and agricultural purpose all over the country. Gurguray a black sweet wild fruit and Pawanay a famous herb is also found in this mountain abundantly. This mountain has been feeding the people of the village for centuries become baron and dry while native villagers start cutting wood and trees mercilessly. All the wild life found in mountain like jackal, fox, wolf, deer, monkeys and other species are disappeared and are vanishing. This village has 8000 acres of Barani land wheat and Jawar is cultivated. No proper agricultural system has been developed so for due to limited rain and non availability of the water for agriculture purpose in the area.

All basic requirement of the life are available here such as water supply system, schools colleges both for girls and boys, post office, animal husbandry, electricity and police station, the crime rate is low in area due piece full nature of the villagers and constant help and cooperation of police department in keeping law and order situation. the speed of the development of the area is quite slow and is not as required at this modern time due to lake of planning and vision as whole , however some solid steps have been taken by famous educationist Mr. Abdul Raziq in the field of education. some of the people have started investing in education sector keeping that in view we can foresee good future of the area.

Village Gumbat has given best army solders and worriers to Pakistan in past few decades no one among those could achieve higher position except few due to lake of education. late col. Sikandar Khan and late col. Afeef khan were one of the best officers of the time in Pakistan army.

The people of the area are not united due to different costs and tribes and don't have a goal for the batter future of coming generations as a whole, however Shakeel Haider a young and enthusiastic Nazim of Gumbat has taken some positive and progressive steps in several directions and is trying to unite the peoples of Gumbat. Plantation of trees is not encouraged generally, agriculture which used to be the lively hood of the Gumbat residents has become a secondary option. A common teen agar of the village starts dreaming of job in Dubai and Saudi Arabia as soon as he clears his matriculation travels abroad and returns back home with several health problems from other countries when he is almost in his late fifties and is not able to enjoy retired life. The hard earned foreign exchange is mostly spent on building houses and shops consequently this money does not perform a positive roll in the socio economic development of the area. Few families has earned substantial amount of money abroad by hard work but they are reluctant to invest this money in village for industrial and commercial use. The leader ship can give batter ideas for investment to the people of the area .100% of the population of Gumbat is Sunni in faith, piece full and honest in their deals.

The dartapees were the very first residents of the village Gumbat. the construction of the houses started at on an elevated point the ruins of those old house can be find near the water supply scheme over head tank at dartapee. latter khaddar khel, hassan khel, awan and other tribes started shifting to this village. bazaar area was the rich area financially and skillfully and was considered the main center for social activities of the village. the area has always been facing drinking and agricultural water problems from centuries the British government had build an underground karez for the water supply to the newly build railway station in 1899 and armed forces that usually travel from Kohat city to khushal gharh military posts. the people of the area are Sunni in faith peaceful and honest famous Sufis and ulima were given great respect here famous durbars of akhund baba,chapari ziarat,bibi shaheeda, ghundi bazurg are visited by thousands of peoples every year. the great scholar of the Islam dhooda ustad has spread the teachings of Islam in the people of the area. hafiz gee sahib (star ustad) chach ustad and molvi abdul qayoum sahib and qazi Muhammad suliman were the great teachers of Islam and were among the most respected persons. the village Gumbat consists of several tribes which live in different areas khadarkhels live in Mohallah khadar khel dartappies who are considered to be the pioneers of village Gumbat live in Mohallah Dartapi awanas who are considdered to be migrated from different areas of punjab or hinko speaking areas live in Mohallah awan. Mohallah bazaar which is the center of socio economic activities consists of several costs people of Mohallah bazaar are moderate skillful cleaver in business and are financially strong among the village. the customs of the area are more or less same as the surrounding areas. a guest of one family is considered the guest of the whole community and dealt with the great respect. pathans are famous for their hospitality from centuries. in the case of a death of a person in the community is taken as morn of the whole community. the people of the area celebrate the birth of male child with arms firing and cutting and eating goats which is called suhbat. for resolution of the internal disputes local community has a jirga system which is mostly headed by the chief of the tribe and other mashraans the decision of the jirga is mostly accepted by both of the parties by not doing so in case of any one party they have to pay penalty. due to non availability of jobs and business in the area most of the youth works abroad to finance their families. the elders of the area are respected by younger at every level. the development in the area both in socio economic sectors is quite slow due to non availability of resources but all the people of Gumbat and leadership is working hard to bring the people of this land to the higher standards. one of the enthusiastic young gentle man Mr. Shahbaz Hanif who is great great son of late Mr. Aziz Ullah khan is working hard to bring the facts about Gumbat and its people before the world and invites other young people to support him with their proposals and suggestions that could lead this village towards batter future. we wish this young mans success in this matter.
